About

Bart McDonough is a leading expert in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, published author of Cyber Smart: Five Habits to Protect Your Family, Money, and Identity from Cyber Criminals and Cyber Guardians: Empowering Board Members for Effective Cybersecurity, and best known as the founder and former CEO of Agio, a hybrid managed IT and cybersecurity services provider that always played by its own rules. Bart launched Agio with deep institutional investment knowledge and more than 25 years of experience across cybersecurity, AI, and IT management, particularly in financial services, health care, and payments.

His core strengths include assessing, defining, advocating, and driving the adoption of risk management strategies, controls, and models that empower organizations to improve cybersecurity resiliency and stay ahead of evolving regulations while creating the behavioral shifts needed to make it all effective. That’s a mouthful, right? So is he, in the best possible way.

Harnessing his expertise, Bart and his team of nearly 300 employees developed AI-powered cybersecurity and managed IT solutions designed to safeguard what matters most: money and reputation. Notably, under his leadership, Agio uncovered and fixed a critical Bloomberg Professional Services vulnerability that could have impacted more than 300,000 subscribers. This is just one example of his team’s industry-changing work.

Bart’s commitment to innovation extended beyond technology as he championed the strategic pairing of AI and human expertise through Agio’s accelerator team, uniting engineering, automation, product development, and data science to deliver smarter and more secure technology management.

He previously served on the boards of TwoSense.AI and Magnus Cloud. Prior to founding Agio, Bart held key positions at SAC Capital Advisors, BlueStone Capital Partners, OptiMark Technologies, Sanford Bernstein, and American Express. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Yale University.

Some people have it, and some people don't. Bart's got it - in droves.
